Frozen Shoulder Physiotherapy
FROZEN SHOULDER PHYSIOTHERAPY
Do you
have pain in your shoulder? Do you have any difficulty in lifting your arm? Or does

frozen shoulder. What is frozen shoulder? It is basically a painful condition
which comes on gradually and prevents you from moving your arm normally. Why do
you get frozen shoulder? In most of the cases cause is unknown. But there are
some conditions that can lead to frozen shoulder such as, diabetes, stroke,
following a fall or after a shoulder operation. Frozen shoulder is quite a
common condition between the ages of 40 to 70 years.
What you can
do for recovery?
Exercises
are essential for the successful treatment of the frozen shoulder. To reduce
your recovery time, you need to focus on improving the mobility and strength.
So, there are some exercises that you can add in your daily routine to increase
the range of motion of your shoulder:-
“Always
consult with an experienced physiotherapist before initiating any exercise. If
you have severe pain while doing any of these exercises, discontinue that
exercise. NEVER move your arm beyond the pain”.
FROZEN
SHOULDER PHYSIOTHERAPY:
v Pendulum: lean forward with
support of bed or chair seat. Hand your arm freely down. Now swing your arm
forward-backward, side to side and in a circle. Repeat each movement 7-10 times
twice a day.
v Shoulder towel stretch: hold a towel on both
ends with hands behind your back. Now use your good arm to pull the affected
arm upward to stretch it. Perform this exercise 10-20 times daily.
v Finger walk: stand with wall in
front of you. With your elbow slightly bend, move your fingers up the wall,
until you have raised your arm as comfortably as you can. Repeat 10-15 times
twice a day.
v Cross body reach:-sit upright. Bring your affected arm across your body to
stretch the shoulder. Hold the stretch 15-20 seconds. Relax and repeat.
Things to
avoid:
o Don’t perform heavy
exercises like weight lifting.
o Don’t try and push through the pain
o Stop doing the tasks that
cause you pain.
o Avoid getting exposed to
cold wind or cold environment for too long.
