PHYSIOTHERAPY FOR PARALYSIS
Paralysis is basically a condition where
patient is unable to move certain parts of body own and suffer from loss of
feeling in the affected part. It can either affect let side or right side of body.
Also, it can affect your face, single arm or both legs, depending on the cause.
How it can occur? Paralysis can be caused by various reasons, such as injury to
your spinal cord or head, stroke and other neurological conditions.
How can you quickly recover from paralysis?

RULE OF RECOVERY: - Repetition (number of times you do the same exercise) and you need to be very consistent with your exercise schedule. Always aim
for high repetitions. Start doing exercise as early as possible for maximum
recovery. So it is highly advisable- the sooner the better.
In the beginning, if
you can’t move your part by yourself, you can take help from your caregiver,
family member or therapist. Remember-never
move your affected part beyond the pain.
How effective the physiotherapy treatment is? Which
exercises you can do at home? Exercise is the
foundation for healing and recovery process. Exercise basically helps your
brain to relearn the movements which have been lost.

Punching movement: - to perform this exercise, sit at the side of the
table and place a bottle on it. Now
slide your entire arm on the table and try to punch the bottle, and then pull
your arm back. You can take help from other hand, if required.

Thumb straightens- take a ball between thumb and two fingers and try to straighten you
thumb.
Ø
Hold the ball between first two fingers and
thumb. Squeeze the ball. Hold and relax.
Ø
Sit on a chair and lift your
leg toward your chest. Hold this position for 5 seconds and relax.
Ø
Sit on a chair with feet on
the ground. Try to straighten your knee without leaning backward. Hold the
position for 5 sec. and relax.
(perform all these exercises 15 times, twice a day.)
