front of you for support. Now raise your body up onto your toes. Hold for 5
seconds. Relax and repeat.
Ø Pelvic floor squeeze: sit comfortably. Now
tighten your pelvic muscles as you hold urine or flow of gas back. Hold as
tightly as possible for a slow count of 5. Breathe normally. Relax and repeat.
Ø Thoracic expansion: while sitting in a chair,
clasp your hands behind your head. Now look towards the ceiling. Repeat 10
times.
Ø Walking: this a great exercise.
Take a brisk walk everyday and it does not strain your joints and muscles.
Ø Riding a static bicycle: this is the safest and
most effective during pregnancy.
ACTIVITIES
THAT ARE NOT SAFE DURING PREGNANCY:
o Any activity that has a
lot of jerky and bouncing movement.
o Avoid participating
contact sports.
o Avoid surfing or scuba
diving.
o Avoid exercising at high
altitude(more than6000 feet)
o Avoid activities that
increase your body temperature.
When you
should STOP exercising:
v Bleeding or fluid leakage
from vagina
v Chest pain, trouble
breathing
v Headache, faint or if you
are feely dizzy
v Muscle weakness or
swelling in your lower legs
v Regular and painful
contraction
